What if there's no one for you to lead
What if there's nothing for you to do
but to show up wherever there's a need
and be one of many instead of one of a chosen few

To take up a cause and lay down your ego
To surrender your precious identity 
To refrain from explaining everything you know
and be just another voice in a choir of humanity 

To choose to be just a face in the crowd
so someone else can be seen
To not share your every thought out loud
long enough to hear someone else scream

To show a different kind of courage 
that stands back for those waiting their turn
and allows them to take the stage
while you sit down to listen and learn
