Has it always been harder to love than to hate
Or is this a symptom that our system creates
Dividing us so effectively 
That the easiest thing to be
Is angry

How much time and energy do we spend
Strengthening bonds with family and friends
Compared to how relentlessly
We focus on our worries 
And other enemies

And how ruthlessly do we conspire
To get all the things that we desire
Because we lack the bravery
To simply
Ask for what we need
